Monitoring Processes with Highly Censored Data

چکیده
The need for process monitoring in industry is ubiquitous. By monitoring process output, problems may be rapidly detected and corrected. However, in many industrial and medical applications observations are censored either due to inherent limitations or cost/time considerations. For example, when testing breaking strengths or failure times often a limited stress test is performed and only a small proportion of the true failure strengths or failure times are observed. With highly censored observations a direct application of traditional monitoring procedures is not appropriate. In this article, Shewhart type X and S control charts based on the conditional expected value weight are suggested for monitoring processes where the censoring occurs at a fixed level. We provide an example to illustrate the application of this methodology.

Monitoring the censored lognormal reliability data in a three-stage process using AFT model
Improving the product reliability is the main concern in both manufacturing and service processes which is obtained by monitoring the reliability-related quality characteristics. Nowadays, products or services are the result of processes with dependent stages referred to as multistage processes. In these processes, the quality characteristic in each stage is affected by the quality characterist...
متن کاملMonitoring Lognormal Reliability Data in a Two-Stage Process Using Accelerated Failure Time Model
The reliability data is getting used to monitor and improve the quality of products or services. Nowadays, most of products or services are the results of processes with dependent stages referred to as multi-stage process. In these processes, the quality characteristics are affected by the quality characteristics in the previous stages, called as cascade property. In some cases, it is not possi...
متن کاملDetecting Changes in the Mean from Censored Lifetime Data
In many industrial and medical applications observations are censored either due to inherent limitations or cost/time considerations. For example, with many products their lifetimes are sufficiently long that it is infeasible to test all products until failure even using accelerated testing. As a result, often a limited stress test is performed and only a proportion of the true failure times ar...
متن کاملModeling of splat particle splashing data during thermal spraying with the Burr distribution
Splashing of splat particles is one of the most important phenomena in industrial processes such as thermal spray coating. The data relative to the degree of splashing of splats sprayed with a normal angle are commonly characterized by the Weibull distribution function. In this present study, an effort has been made to show that the Burr distribution is better than the Weibull distribution for ...
متن کاملA New Model Selection Test with Application to the Censored Data of Carbon Nanotubes Coating
Model selection of nano and micro droplet spreading can be widely used to predict and optimize of different coating processes such as ink jet printing, spray painting and plasma spraying. The idea of model selection is beginning with a set of data and rival models to choice the best one. The decision making on this set is an important question in statistical inference. Some tests and criteria a...
